A realization of

In the heart of Bruges, on the former school site of the VTI, a new, sustainable city district will soon emerge. But before the first stone can be laid, there was an essential task designated for our colleagues from Verhelst Aannemingen.

Our demolition teams took charge of demolishing the old VTI, carefully propping the classified facade and removing hazardous materials such as fluorescent lamps, asbestos, and oil tanks. After further dismantling and strengthening the surrounding buildings, the structure was expertly leveled. The rubble was crushed on-site and repurposed for use on the construction site.

After this demolition, our groundworkers took over. The different qualities of soil are expertly separated and kept apart. The top layer of soil is a mix of soil and rocks, which is sieved to separate the materials and excavated. The released stone and concrete debris is transported to a Top Mix crushing plant. The soils are transported to various projects of Verhelst Aannemingen to be reused as a useful application. With precision and craftsmanship, they then dug this enormous excavation, situated between the geothermal pipelines. After the digging, the crushed rubble from the demolition is used on-site as a foundation layer for the pile machine, thanks to our hard work Furnibo is now ready to start building the underground garage.
