As part of our multi-year project in the new district Antwerp Nieuw-Zuid, Verhelst Aannemingen has recently taken a sustainable step concerning the transportation of soil.
Last week, we transported a large quantity of 11,000 tons of soil via inland navigation. We shipped nearly 3,000 tons of soil per day to the Netherlands, where the soil received a new purpose. The excavated soil will be used there as foundation material. Transporting via water allowed us to take 400 trucks off the road. This is not only a gain for the environment by reducing CO2 emissions, but also for traffic congestion and safety.
This project at Antwerp Nieuw-Zuid is a clear example of how we are constantly searching for innovative and sustainable solutions for our work. We are proud of this achievement and continue to look for ways to reduce our ecological footprint while maintaining the highest quality in our work and service.
